Terms of service

Cedarly connects households in Canada with independent, vetted home-service professionals. These terms explain who is responsible for what.

1. What we are, and what we are not

Cedarly operates a booking platform. The cleaning, child care, repair and seasonal work you book is performed by independent professionals, not by our employees. We vet them, set the prices you see, handle payment and stand behind the experience — but the pro controls how the work itself is carried out.

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or older and give accurate information, including a service address and a phone number we can reach you on.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • One person, one account. Accounts created to abuse promotional codes may be closed.

3. Prices, taxes and fees

  • All prices are in Canadian dollars and are fixed before you book — not estimates.
  • A $3.49 Trust & Support fee is added to each booking. It covers vetting, insurance and support.
  • Sales tax is calculated from the service address: HST in Ontario, GST in Alberta, and GST plus PST in British Columbia on the services where PST applies.
  • Care for children 14 and under is exempt from GST/HST. The exemption is applied automatically, line by line.
  • Tips are passed to the pro in full and are not taxed.
  • Parts and materials a pro supplies are not included unless the service description says so.

4. Booking, access and the start code

When your booking is paid we assign the best-rated pro who is qualified, free at that time and serves your area. Your full address is shared with the pro only once they accept. Each booking has a 4-digit start code: give it to your pro at the door so the job can begin. Somebody 18 or older must be able to give access to the home at the scheduled time.

5. Cancellations

Cancel more than 3 hours before the start time and you pay nothing. Inside that window a $20.00 fee applies. The full policy, including what happens when a pro cancels, is on the cancellation and refunds page.

6. Child care bookings

  • Caregivers must hold a cleared police Vulnerable Sector Check and a First Aid & CPR certificate valid through the end of the booking. Our dispatch system will not assign anyone who does not.
  • You must give accurate details about each child: age, allergies, medical needs and an emergency contact. Those details are released to the caregiver only after they accept the booking.
  • Care is delivered in your home. This is not licensed daycare, and caregivers do not provide medical treatment or transport children unless that is agreed in writing.
  • In an emergency, caregivers are instructed to call 911 first and you second.

7. Professionals using the platform

  • Pros are independent contractors. They set their own availability, use their own tools and are responsible for their own taxes, including registering for GST/HST once past the small-supplier threshold.
  • Pros must hold the licences their trade requires by province, and the insurance they have declared.
  • Consent to a background check is a condition of taking work through the platform.
  • Approaching customers to take work off the platform is grounds for removal.

8. Conduct and safety

Harassment, discrimination, threats or intoxication end a booking immediately, whichever side they come from. Pros may leave a job that is unsafe — unsecured aggressive animals, hazardous materials, no working lighting or heat — and it is treated as a late cancellation.

9. Liability

We are liable for our own platform: taking your payment correctly, matching you with a vetted pro and handling your data properly. We are not liable for the independent professional's work beyond the remedies in these terms and the cancellation policy. Nothing here removes rights you have under Canadian consumer protection law, which apply regardless of what this page says.

10. Changes, law and contact

We will post material changes to these terms here and, where the change affects a booking you have already made, email you. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Questions go to support@cedarly.example.

This policy describes how the platform actually behaves today. It is not legal advice — have a Canadian lawyer review it before you rely on it in a dispute.
